Get Off Vick's Dick

It absolutely infuriates me that some people still are hung up with punishing former Atlanta Falcons QB Michael Vick. My defense for him is quite short, but definitely to the point. To begin with, there isn't a bigger dog lover than me. And what he did was unacceptable, unforgivable, and just flat out ignorant. However, they are dogs. The guy not only spent two years in prison, away from the game in the prime of his career. Who knows if hell have his timing and endurance now? He lost his contract, his money, his endorsements, everything. Sadly, in my opinion he deserved most of it. Then I see people talking about suspending him further, or protesting whatever team he signs with. Its outrageous.

Lets compare with these other outlaws in sports. Starting with the point of the ridiculous trend of these rich athletes driving while drunk. Believe me I'm not throwing stones, since I drove drunk a few times in my past. But it was usually because I had no choice. These guys get paid more than enough to hire drivers. So in my eyes there is no excuse. Donte Stallworth killed a HUMAN, while driving drunk and had to do twenty four DAYS. Are you kidding? Jim Leyritz killed a person, and is still out and about to slap his wife around. Guys like Pacman Jones. I don't even want to get started on him. Teams still consider signing him, and I think he is a way bigger detriment to any team than Michael Vick. There are countless other guys who are in drugs, domestic violence, rape, guns and D.W.I. who are way more deserving of this harassment. The guy paid for his crime dearly. So people need to let it go, and allow him to salvage his career because he is insanely talented. Or was. If he fucks up again, then hes an idiot and doesn't need to be in the league. However, players with far more damaging crimes have been given second and third and fourth chances. Crimes that kill people or scar lives. I think we could let dogfighting go since we seem to give drunken murder a pass.

Dame Dash's Cash Crashed

This one I could keep relatively short. For years, I have never liked Dame Dash. He's an arrogant, obnoxious loudmouth. I remember him bragging about his accomplishments, when all he did was ride on other peoples talents. Unlike other producers and label heads, he didn't produce, make beats, rhyme, sing or even dance. Granted, those aren't things a person in his position shouldn't have to do that. Then keep your mouth shut then. Nothing sickens me than a person who beats on their own chest, patting themselves on their back for their own accomplishments. For all of Rockafella records and Rocawear's accomplishments, most people weren't endorsing them because of anything Dame had done. At the height of his success, Dame being the Diddy wannabe that he is, made major moves by signing Camron, Ol Dirty Bastard, and M.O.P., the latter two being totally ridiculous. It went all downhill from there. He had the nerve to say he made Jay-Z. How? You had a role in his success. That's it. His head was as big as his bitch-ass mouth. We all know how much success his other ventures had. The CEO's.....negro please! Dame Dash music group. Reminds me of that Dave Chapelle skit with Fisticuffs. "Turn my headphones up'!

I saw him in a bar and heard his voice over every ones there. I saw him on "Politically Incorrect", sitting next to Cornel West, an articulate and educated man, and constantly talk over him like he had so much knowledge to spare. I saw him on "MTV cribs", and show off unnecessarily, talking about he never washes socks, he just buys new ones. Okay. I remember him on Bill O'Reilly's show and him again cutting off people in the most obnoxious way possible. And I think Bill O'Reilly is short sided and ignorant. However, the way you argue a point could make you look smart, dumb, or just plain ignorant. His constant bravado and cocky attitude infuriated me, especially since he didn't put an iota of work or input into the records he was selling. Now hes trying to resurrect his fantasy career, trying to ride Jim Jone's coattails back to the place he thought he was. Hes not Diddy. Hes not T-Pain, or anyone else with a lick of talent. All he has is a big mouth, and I cant even tell him to put his money where his mouth is, because he has none. Oh well. Sucks for him.

"Aint No Sunshine When He's Gone"

There is a old saying that basically states that you never appreciate a good thing until its gone. Years after Patrick Ewing left the Knicks, I watched this once great storied franchise plummet to an embarrassing has been. When i watched the legends of the decades ceremony the other day, and saw Patrick Ewing get honored for the nineties, I quickly youtubed his number retirement ceremony. To this day, I'm still moved and touched by how this great city paid homage to a man whose only fault was not winning a title. I smile so hard my face hurts, and my eyes well up every single time I watch it. We should have showed this much appreciation while he was around

For starters, for thirteen years straight, Pat led the Knicks into the playoffs as legitimate title contenders. He didn't miss games and he put up almost 25 points and 12 rebounds through the heart of his career. However it wasn't good enough for Knicks fans since he wasn't dunking on players like Shaq or dazzling them like Hakeem. His game wasn't pretty, but it was consistent, professional, and we knew he would give 150%. No dislocated toes and pinkies were going to keep him out of a game. Ever. No off the court problems, with the exception of being caught in a strip club or to, which is perfectly fine with me. The day he left was the day the franchise went down the drain.

Several factors contributed to the Knicks not winning a title. None were Ewing's fault.

#1. Michael Jordan. I don't have to say anymore than that. He had to battle the Bulls every single time he had a shot to win. As we look back, having Mike stop you from getting a ring is nothing to be ashamed of. How many others hopes has he totally decimated. Karl Malone, John Stockton, Reggie Miller, Charles Barkley. All great players, and all hall of famers. Having the best player of all time assassinate you in the playoffs is nothing to be ashamed of.

#2. Weak front office. I really don't think the front office was weak during those glory years in the nineties. However, Ewing really never had that second star that he needed to get over the hump. The best player he had alongside of him offensively was John starks, a guy who had bagged groceries prior to playing. All of the offensive pressure was always placed on Pat. When they finally did try to get him some offensive help in Latrell Sprewell and Allan Houston, Ewing was 37 years old, and his knees were shot for carrying the franchise alone for so long. The thing that pisses me off the most is that today, the Knicks have the highest payroll in the league, and spared no expense bringing in high priced players. And they are the biggest mess in sports. Period. And Isiah is to blame equally with Scott Layden and James Dolan. Dolan is basketball's version of Gerorge Stienbrenner, the only difference being that the latter is a winner. When we had a legend, a hall of famer, a professional, we surrounded him with CBA overachievers and role players and were a winning franchise. Money and time wasted.

#3. Legends Era. Ewing Played in a era of legends. Bird. Magic. Reggie. Barkley. Stockton. Jordan. Hakeem. Shaq. Clyde. The Admiral. Pippen. All of these guys are model franchise players. So was Ewing. Not all of them won titles, and that fact doesn't lessen their accomplishments or sully their legacies.

For all of Ewing's faults, he was a hard worker,a non-vocal leader, and a true professional. To think, Stephon Marbury was paid more to wear a Knick uniform. What a shame. We all watched a legend play before our eyes, and we complained and wanted more. Now hes gone, and we realized what we had. And we wonder when or if well ever have a player of his stature again. Probably not. We miss you, big fella. You have no idea.

Monsters, Inc.

Just when I think the world cant get any worse, I am proven wrong. Crime after crime, I always hear of one that just totally blows my mind, and leaves me speechless. There was a 7 year old Nixmary Brown, whose animal parents made her shit in a litter box, and beat tortured her for petty mistakes that most children her age meant. There was of course 9-11, which needs no clarifying whatsoever. There was Dr. Nicholas Bartha, who blew up his own house with him in it, to keep his wife from getting it in a divorce settlement. I remember reading about all these crimes and thinking to myself, it cant get any worse or more despicable. Times move on, and so do the shamelessness of certain individuals. Then came along Josef Fritzl, and I was didsgusted, dumbfounded and amazed how screwed up life really is.

Most crimes I could justify. To think robbery is usually fueled by money. Most murders have a motive whether it be drugs, or frustration. The only two crimes I cant justify is rape and child molestation, which there is no reason for. Sex is supposed to be enjoyable, and forcing somebody into that act shouldnt give any person pleasure. And child molestation is the worst since children are precious and need to be treasured in those early years, since they dont last long. Heres a guy who imprisoned his own daughter for almost 25 years in a basement. He began doing so when she was 18 years old, when she was basically an adult. Not only did he confine her, but he raped her repeatedly, his own daughter. Meanwhile, his wife thought thteir child had run away to join a cult. And to top matters off, he was irresponsible and fathered six children with his OWn daughter. How sick is that? He had more kids with his daughter than his own wife. Unbelievable. Not only has he stolen the youthful years of his daughter, but of his kids/grandkids as well. He allowed three to live a normal life, and the other three were kept in the basement. Away from normal civilization so long that they were dumbfounded and shocked by simple things we're used to such as daylight. His daughter is ruined for life. Think about how much technology has changed in the last ten years. Cell phones, i-pods, flat screen televisions, the list is infinite. To think the usage of touch screen devices has quadruples in the last five years. She lost the supposed prime of her life.

When she gave birth to twins in 1996 and one was sick, he let the child die, and then incinerated it. Outrageous. He kept saying he was remorseful. i might have believed that if he had kept her there for a couple of weeks. But 25 years, it was calculated. 6 children, he wasnt thinking about repercussions on the affect on the children. Look what he did to his own child. Whats sickening is that the courts want him to serve his life sentence in a pshyciatic hospital. Wonder why people dont respect the law. Shoot a cop youre going down. Some people get more time for trying to sell cocaine than trying to kill someone. But raping your own child at an adult age.....sickening. One woman on CNN.com had the perfect punishment. She said cut a half of inch off his dick every week, until he had nothing left but a scar to remind him of the pain he caused. Perfect but not enough.

Grumpy Old Men

In light of this new Stan Van Gundy and Shaq verbal combat, I find myself wondering what happened to the Shaq who was a big smiling giant, who even donned some genie pants. Or the guy who made several rap albums just for fun, because we all know his rapping abilities are as good as his free show shooting. The last couple of years, Shaq has shot his mouth off several times, oftentimes calling out people and indirectly insulting people who didn't mutter a negative word about the most dominant big man in league history. Yes I said it. I never was impressed with Wilt Chamberlain, since the game was different and he was the biggest guy on the court. Do you think Wilt would've gotten his gaudy statistics if he had to guard a Dwight Howard, a Shaq or even an Emeka Okafor. Definitely not, but I digress. I think Shaq realizes that he isn't the most dominant big man in the league anymore, and that his best days (team and individual) are way, way behind him. The league has moved on, expanded, and gotten younger, and now Shaq is just along for the ride. And he knows it.

It all started last week when Shaq calls Dwight Howard an impostor superman. For starters that whole superman thing came from his dunk in last years dunk contest which amazed us all as basketball fans. No one ever questions Shaqs legacy, so for him to say something like that just shows a little jealousy and a lot of immaturity. Jealous of the fact that Dwight is the monster in the paint that he used to be. Besides, who cares. The Superman name stuck. Did Michael Jordan go throwing shots at Kobe when people say his games is like Mikes. No, for what. I think Kobe will surpass Jordan as the best player ever, since hes so young, so talented, and such an assassin with the game on the line. But he has to win a lot more for me to give him Jordan's crown. To think a few weeks ago Shaq and Dwight were dancing at the all star game. Now hes an impostor. Since when, and who the hell cares. I really hate to see when people trash talk and use the media against people who aren't really into all the sideline drama like Howard.

OK, moving on, when they play, i watch Howard take a drop step spin move, where Shaq totally was lost, and for the first time in his career, he flopped. Seriously, it wasnt even close. Flopping against a so-called Superman impostor. Superman does not flop. Or shouldn't. Afterwards, Coach Van Gundy called him out for it, since Dwight is supposed to be an impostor. Rightly so. Only defending his player who was called out for no reason, and if there was one, it was extremely petty. Afterwards, a defensive Shaq goes on the offensive calling out Van Gundy, his brother, and "that legend on the bench", Patrick Ewing. As a New Yorker and a lifelong Knick fan, I get offended by that since Ewing has never muttered a negative word about him, and certainly wasn't lucky enough to have a high caliber, A-class teammate such as Dwayne Wade or Kobe.

No one has ever questioned Shaqs accomplishments or even tried to belittle him. Shaq has been a consumate professional his whole career for the most part, and these last couple of years he goes on the offensive against people who never had an issue or problem with O'Neal. Last summer he did that ridiculous freestyle where he dissed Kobe out of the blue, Ewing, Kareem. He uttered classic lines like "its like a white boy trying to be more nigger than me". You're not 25 anymore. Its not cute. hes ruining his legacy, not too much, but Ive lost a certain degree of respect for that man. It was like when Stephon Marbury and Larry Brown were feuding, and Larry says, look at my record and then look at his." There is no need to say that. To begin with, you're older, smarter, and been around longer. Plus with all the issues Steph has had with coaches, nobody really thought Larry was the one who had the problem. The fact that he had to bring it up, a hall of fame coach comparing himself to Marbury who basically was ran out of his home town, shows insecurity and immaturity on Brown's part. I feel the same way about this situation. Shaq has nothing to prove. Dwight Howard is a young personable player who is growing by the minute. he has taken over as the leagues most dominant big man. No one thought that he was better or an impostor. Shaq has nothing to prove. The fact that he would have to throw his accomplishments up and compare them to Ewing or the Van Gundy brothers shows that he isn't the professional I thought he was. Shaq is proven, and has nothing to prove and nobody to impress. Maybe he does, because now I'm really unimpressed.

Nothing Worse Than A Dumb Female

I cant reiterate enough how disgusted I am by the fact that Rihanna is back with Chris Brown, even though I'm really not surprised. For the most part, I'm just waiting to see how long its going to take for him to do that again, and how worse it will be. This time all it took was some sweet talk, flowers, jewelry and an ipod touch. All things that she was more than capable of buying herself. Next time he might just break her jaw, and then hell have to spring up for a car or something. There will be a next time, there always is. My parents had their abuse issues, never physical, but definitely with verbal and substances, mainly alcohol. It was always the same with my father. "I'm going to stop drinking". "Only on the weekends". He even went as far as to put strawberry milk and colored water into his liquor bottles. In the end, he always went back to drinking, always breaking his promises. They try, but in the end, it just goes back to normal. What I really want to know is what kind of father does she have? Had it been my daughter, or sister, or even friend, I would be looking for him to make his face look like hers. At the very least. Granted I don't think Rihanna is blameless at all. She might have instigated it or started the fight, but the way he finished her off is inexcusable. Bite marks, come on. But if she allows it, its her problem. If she enables it, and makes excuses for it, then she deserves what she gets. Nobody is going to feel for her the next time. Its like with cheating. If you let infidelity slide the first time, its only going to get worse. Rarely does it get better. If you don't stop it in the beginning, it only escalates, as people see how far they could go, and how much they could get away with. So the next time I see a battered TMZ picture, I'm going to laugh, because she allowed it, and ultimately, she deserved it
